The furnace made less noise, ran for shorter cycles and provided cleaner indoor air quality
As first-time homeowners, my hubby and I had no idea there were so numerous service tasks. My buddy and I learned about most of the apartment upkeep due to repairs, when the water furnace ruptured and flooded the basement, my buddy and I hired a plumber who explained the importance of draining the tank every year. When the water pressure from the faucets and shower head diminished, my buddy and I googled and started cleaning aerators correctly. Our second winter in the house, the output of the furnace steadily diminished. My buddy and I kept raising the control unit setting, forcing the furnace to run just about non stop. Our daily heating bills were immense and yet the home felt chilly. I finally busy a service with a local Heating, Ventilation plus A/C dealer. He started by checking the air filter, which was completely plugged. He then unaffixed the outer cabinet, inspected the inner laborings and found a significant accumulation of dust and other debris. He said that this build was restricting airflow and preventing the furnace from operating at maximum capacity. The contractor proceeded to thoroughly scrub all components, lubricate moving parts, test the start-up sequence, calibrate the control unit, tighten electric connections and check the burner assembly. The service took numerous hours but made a significant improvement in the operation of the heater. I was able to lower the control unit setting and yet cherish a more consistent and comfortable indoor temperature. The furnace made less noise, ran for shorter cycles and provided cleaner indoor air quality. Plus, there was a significant reduction in our daily energy bills. From now on, I will schedule furnace service every fall.
