I am slightly amazed by the benefits of a smart thermostat.
A few months ago, I finally upgraded from an ancient, manual thermostat to a modern alternative and the improvement is incredible.
I never realized how time-consuming and aggravating it was to always walk to the location of the thermostat in the living room to make adjustments. I often forgot to raise or lower the setting before the whole family left for work or school in the morning. The furnace or air conditioner would then blast all day long, keeping empty rooms perfectly comfortable. On the rare occasion that I remembered to make adjustments, we would arrive home to either overheated or chilly conditions. Since having the new thermostat installed, I’m saving a significant amount on energy bills. The device knows our schedule and automatically adjusts to optimize energy conservation without sacrificing comfort. If our schedule should suddenly change, I can easily make adjustments to programming through an app on my smartphone. Because the furnace and air conditioner aren’t working as hard, I’m hoping for greater reliability and longevity from the equipment. Plus, the thermostat reminds me to change air filters and schedule professional maintenance, so I’m taking better care of the heating and cooling system. I can take advantage of energy tracking and energy saving tips. The thermostat also handles the operation of our whole-house humidifier, which improves comfort and further helps with furnace efficiency. The new control is a touchscreen that displays both indoor and outdoor temperature. It is very easy to navigate and looks so much nicer than the old device.
