My favorite revenge story; glitter in the air ducts at ex’s

I’m not the type of person who generally gets very spiteful or vengeful.

  • When people upset me, I choose to redirect my energy elsewhere instead of torturing myself with hatred.

I’m of the opinion that this causes less trouble for me in the end, and doesn’t give them the satisfaction that they’re looking for. That being said, there have been a few instances where the high road was not such an easy path. One of my favorite stories of fairly innocent revenge took place at my crappy ex’s house. The name says it all – we had broken up and we weren’t on good terms. After months of being separated, all of my stuff was still in his house and he didn’t want to let me inside. Finally, I got the courts to let me in. While he was out of the house, he decided to be especially vindictive and to put a lock on the smart thermostat. This meant, I couldn’t turn down the air temperature programming which had been set at the maximum temperature of 85 degrees. So, I was forced to pack and move all of my belongings in horrifically hot and humid indoor air conditions. It was an exhausting and dirty process. At the end of my move, I thought that maybe his HVAC system deserves a little extra love, since he had so thoughtfully set the air quality controls for me. I dug through my craft supplies that were packed in the UHaul, and pulled out the finest fairy glitter I could find. Then, I proceeded to carefully funnel the glitter into all of his air vents in the house. I left with the satisfaction of knowing that he would return home and turn the air temperature controls back down to an appropriate temperature… only to have a pound of fine glitter shoot through every air vent and cover his precious belongings. That was a year ago – I bet he’s still trying to vacuum out his air ducts and carpeting.
